Description

“A facsimile of the earliest known book devoted solely to the history of pens, inks and inkstands. It was appropriately named Pens, Inks & Inkstands with illustrations. No author is given”.
“The first chapter provides an entertaining history of pens, from the clay tablet inscriptions of the Babylonians to the gold dip pens produced by F. Mordan of England. The book makes reference to and quotes from many famous people on their use of pen and ink. The next two chapters provide a history of ink and inkstands, respectively. The book concludes with advertisements from various makers of pens, inks, and inkstands.
The owner of the book from which the facsimile was made is Steven J. Guardiano, Esq., a dedicated collector of writing antiques. Steven chose to share this book with other antique writing enthusiasts for pleasure and reference.”
